Ace
of Herts has been successfully used throughout Hertfordshire by
council contractors on school playing fields for total reseeding
and renovation of worn patches.
The organic nature of
the raw materials used and the production methods of the compost
ensure that it is totally safe for this purpose. The high nutrient
values and water retention properties gives the best possible start
to any playing field.
Even if there is no need for renovation
work, a top dressing of Ace of Herts worked into the soil with
a harrow or rake invigorates the grass to produce stronger
plants and after a few weeks a greener finish.
Landscape
gardeners have found our soil conditioner invaluable when re-establishing
old and unkept borders, Ace of Herts if dug into the soil, immediately
improves the fertility levels and provides a deep bed finish
by breaking up the compacted soil.

Other important
areas in which Ace of Herts has been widely used is in the planting
of trees and larger shrubs and park border mulching. All to often
spring and summer tree planting schemes fail as once planted,
having previously been cared for in a nursery environment,
suddenly become orphans’ and after the initial watering on planting,
are left to their own devices. As this
is all too often just as we go into the dryer spells of late spring
and summer the trees and shrubs need all the help they can get,
not only to survive but to thrive and grow. Ace
of Herts gives plants and shrubs that added boost of nutrients to
help establish a viable root system whilst the mulching and
water retaining qualities of the compost ensure an insulated
and localised water source for the plant during those important
first few weeks.

Ace of Herts has
been extensively used in the borders of some of Hertfordshire’s
parks, recreation grounds and roundabouts. It is these sort
of locations where watering is often non viable. This can present
a virtual desert to plants during drier spells of weather.
Water retention in the soil is vital or plants will die. A
thick layer of compost will stop the drying out of the soil and
help prevent weed growth whilst not encouraging the over wintering
of common pests such as slugs and snails that other more traditional
methods, like the use of bark Chipping’s.
