 What's in your Bin?
Garden waste is currently collected from over 10,000 homes in North Hertfordshire, there are plans in place to increase this by a further 10,000.

Over the years we have received some strange items to recycle into compost, these include Garden Furniture, fencing posts and panels, concrete garden ornaments, paving slabs, and a gazebo (well it's all garden stuff isn't it?!!). Also 3 vacuum cleaners, an iron, a keyboard, (the musical type) computer monitors (we were at a loss to explain all of those?!!),  Plastic Bottles (It may say biodegradeable, we can't wait the 50 years or so!!) Whole tree trunks, high pressure hoses, and thousands of seed trays, flower pots, stones, rocks, and plastic bags. All of which needs removing by hand and returning to landfill. This represents a waste of time and valuable resources. All of which adds to costs. So please think Black or Brown before you bin it.
