The
Jim Ballance Composts Marketing Award was
launched in September 2001 to recognise and promote
the work of compost producers throughout the UK in marketing
products, researching and generating markets, and promoting
the benefits of making and using composts. A large
number of entries were received reflecting the wide
diversity that exists in terms of the range of products
manufactured, the scale of operations, and marketing
methods adopted.
The entries were assessed by an expert
panel consisting of The Chartered Institute of
Marketing, The Institute of Wastes Management, The Composting Association
and professional compost marketeers. Entries were judged
on their market research, marketing objectives,
product development, promotions and communications
and results.
